Iñaki Domingo

Bio

Iñaki Domingo (1978) plays with our ideals of beauty. In the series First Meeting,Madrid-born Iñaki re-elaborates pre-existing amateur pornographic images from the internet, retrieving an imagined innocence in the consumption of a woman’s nakedness. And yet, he questions the uniformity of aesthetics – the image of a sailor caught unawares presents us with the awkward beauty found in the arbitrary and unexpected.

A member of the Spanish photographers’ cooperative Nophoto, Iñaki, considered one of the purveyors of new Spanish photography, was awarded the prestigious Revelation Award from Photoespaña in 2006, the INJUVE Photography Award by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (Spain) in 2005-2007 and the Port Authority Bay of Algeciras Prize (Spain) in 2004. In 2008, Iñaki wasselected for the World Press Joop Swart Masterclass. He has exhibited in major European cities and throughout Spain.
