Stefano De Luigi

Bio

In images of supercharged colours and muted hues, Stefano De Luigi(1964), has photographed the parallel worlds of stage sets – from the porno industry, television, men’s fashion and identity, to the world’s movie sets – far removed from Hollywood ‘s dream machine. This last series, Cinema Mundi, was also featured as a short film in the 60th edition of Switzerland’s Locarno Film Festival (2007). In 2000, his work, Celebrities, was projected at Arles in France. Cologne-born De Luigi’s prizes include the W. Eugene Smith Fellowship Grant in 2007 and a World Press Photo award in 1999, 2008 and 2010. In 2010, he received the Days Japan International Photojournalism Award and the Getty Grant for Editorial Photography. His book, Blanco, was awarded the Best Photography Book by POYi (US) in 2011.
