Suzanne Opton

Bio

Suzanne Opton’s photographs offer an unusual perspective on the ordinary – whether objects or individuals. Her recent “Soldier” project focuses on the fragility and vulnerability of military men and women back from Iraq and Afghanistan. Her work is intimate and still, seemingly suspended in both time and space. New York-based Opton, has received grants from the Vermont Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts and awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship (2009).
